Condensation and dust removal
When burning the wood chips made out of fresh cutted trees the water is evaporated at the beginning. The energy which is necessary for the evaporation is now in the steam which goes with the flue gas. A condensation of the flue gas regains the energy. In doing so the fine dust particles are bound to the tiny waterdrops and therefore removed out of the flue gas. The flue gas condensation offers both: better energy efficiency and lower dust emissions.

A benefit for the environment
Compared to the standard solution the higher costs for the flue gas cleaning and flue gas condensation in Pfaffenhofen brings obvious benefits for the environment. Operating the plant the we reach dust emissions of less than 10 mg/Nm³.

dust removal with multicyclone and electro filter
The wood combustion causes ashes which can be divided in two different fractions: in boiler and filter ash. In the several steps of flue gas cleaning the percentage of total ash decreases and the pollution increases. In the boiler we have nearly 60% of the total ash which is of coarse structure. In the first step of flue gas cleaning the multicyclone separates another 30%. These two fractions -in total 90%- can be used and sold as a fertiliser. The remaining 10% are cleaned by the electro filter and by condensation. These fine ashes have to be disposed and deposited. With our flue gas cleaning the limit value of 20 mg/Nm³ can be clearly undershooted.
