The chips are burned in a special biomass boiler to produce steam.  
80,000 tons of woodchips every year
Only untreated wood out of forests and wood waste from saw-mills will be used in the co-generation plant. The calculated demand is 80,000 tons of woodchips every year. A great quantity comes directly out of the forest the other part comes from sawmills. A well operating wood procurement is necessary because of this enormous and continuous demand (250 tons every day).
Water cooled vibration grate
The heart of the combustion is the water cooled vibration grate. The vibrations of the grate are short and are dependent of the heat demand. In combination with an optimised air supply the woodchips are mixed well. This all together enables a good burnout with low emissions and a high degree of efficiency.
 
Steam production
The steam generator is designed for a steam production of 8.3 kg/s at a combustion heat performance of 26.7 MW. The steam parameters are 60 bar and 450°C. The boiler is designed as a gravity circulation boiler with economizer, evaporator and superheater.
