Generator (on left hand side) and turbine (on right hand side)
Producing steam
The biomass-boiler produces steam with a temperature of 450°C and a pressure of 60 bar which is used in the extraction-condensation-turbine to produce electrical power.
Producing electrical power
The steam produces mechanical energy in the turbine which is transformed in electrical power in the generator. With a capacity of about 7.5 MW electrical power, the steam turbine is supposed to supply an amount of more than 40 GWh electricity per year into the grid - enough for more then 10,000 private households.
Producing heat
An extraction of 13.5 bar out of the turbine is used to produce industrial steam. More over steam with 3.5 bar is used to generate heat for district heating (high temperature grid).
