The biomass co-generation plant in Pfaffenhofen is producing electrical power, steam, heat and chill. There are many heat costumers like industry and business, municipal buildings like the hospital, administration buildings and more than 100 private costumers. The location of the biomass cogeneration plant allows to deliver energy to the connected customers very easily. Moreover, absorption chillers run by district heating provide cooling for air conditioning and for low-temperature applications. Due to the fact that the demand of heat is rather constant over the year, the degree of effectiveness of a co-generation plant is very high.
This facts are very interesting:
To deliver HIPP, which is a producer of baby-food, with steam and heat the company has switched their heat demand from fossil to regenerative energy.
A special contracting was offered to the hospital. Today the energy supply of the hospital is managed by the biomass co-generation plant. The benefits for the hospital are lower energy demand and prices and the biomass plant has more free capacity to deliver more costumers.

Müllerbräu
The local brewery "Müllerbräu" switched to district heating in total. Prerequisite was a fundamental reconstruction of the production techniques. Today the brewery is the first in Germany to produce the beer exclusive with heat and chill out of biomass.

With their decision to connect their buildings to the district heating grid the town and county of Pfaffenhofen supported the project from the very first beginning.
Today nearly every municipal building is delivered by heat out of the biomass co-generation plant.
